A missed rep during a designated workout means a lot in terms of body building progress. Going beyond an appropriate set with one rep tells a lot about your ability to adhere to the word given by your spotter.
If he or she demands that a body builder should not heave the weight for example, then the body builder must immediately seize from heaving. The spotter is also a human being. He may think that you have followed his or her advice and are not going to heave your weight anymore. This may make him retreat or leave the area thereby endangering your life with heaved weights. This is why it is important to follow all instructions to the letter.

Nevertheless, there are certain few occasions where cheating is a good strategy of increasing the number of workouts you can handle within the body building program. The contradiction arises when body builders try to create a positive impression of their masculine ability. The problem comes in when in the pretentious effort, the unexpected happens. Strict techniques should be followed and if any cheating is allowed it should be to the advantage of a body builder not against.
